France West Coast - Calais to Avranches

There were two fortifications at each end of the bay to ensure no enemy ships could get through and to protect the French fleet in the Bay. This one is easiest to access and the other is on the Island 'L'ile Tatihou'. The island is 28 hectares and can be reached on foot at low tide. It is most important today for environmental/conservation reasons.
